to be a Jason

While she eventually found out that he had been a Jason, yet it was too late.

There have been many stories of those Jasons, but they can draw no serious attention from girls.

20. Io

One day, Zeus noticed the beautiful maiden Io and fell in love with her. He ran after her and won her. Hera became so envious that she flew down from Olympus to pay her rival back.

Zeus, however, had foreseen her arrival. He covered Io with clouds to hide her from the eyes of his jealous wife, Hera, who came to investigate. In a vain attempt to hide his crimes, Zeus turned himself into a white cloud and transformed Io into a beautiful white heifer. Hera was not fooled. She demanded the heifer as a present, and Zeus could not refuse her without arousing suspicion. Then, Hera placed Argus with 100 eyes, to watch her in order to keep Io separated from Zeus.

Zeus commanded Hermes(赫耳墨斯)to kill Argus. Hermes distracted the guardian and slaw him, then set Io free. However, Hera summoned a gadfly to sting and pursue the heifer Io relentlessly. Heifer Io was forced to roam the world. She eventually crossed the path between the Propontis and the Black Sea, which thus gained the name Bosporus (meaning ox passage). Finally, Io reached Egypt , and there she was restored to her original form. In Egypt, Io gave birth to a son, her child by Zeus.

The Sirens are the daughters of the river god Achelous. They are half-woman, half-bird-like creatures, portrayed as femme fatales who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. No sailor nor ship had ever been known to pass the Island of the Sirens without being attracted todisaster, but Odysseus is an exception.

Odysseus took careful preparation against the Sirens. Before their ships came to where they could hear the song, Odysseus had himself tied to themast, stopped the ears of his men with wax and ordered them to ignore his orders and gestures when they were passing the fatal island.

Soon they came in sight of the rocky island, and the attractive song reached the ears of Odysseus. It moved him so much that he struggled indespairto free himself and shouted for his men to turn towards the rich and flowery grass land of the singing sisters. But no one paid any attention to him. The sailors kept straight on until they were completely out of hearing. Then his man freed him and took the wax out of their ears. For once the Sirens had sung with no effects. The eldest of the sisters, Partherope, loved Odysseus so much that she threw herself into the sea after his ships had passed.
