他曾经三次过家门，
却来不及看望亲人们。
一心带百姓治洪水，
把百姓安危记在心。
后世人提起大禹治水事，
总赞他公而忘私好精神。
“三过其门而不入”作成语，
总是褒扬那些忘我为民的做官人。
Three Times Passes His Home
Without Going Into It
In ancient times in China floods often occurred。The folk were vulnerable to be victims。The crops were washed away and houses ruptured，so they had to sleep on the ground covered with heaven。
There was a sage named Dayu，who was a wise emperor and able to tame floods。Before him people used the method of blocking，but Dayu dispersed the water by digging rivers。He had passed his home three times，but he couldn't manage to see his family。He put his heart into the taming of floods，and kept the folk's safety in the core of his heart。
People often mention Dayu's taming of the water，and always praise him for his selflessness。“Three Times Passes His Home Without Going Into It”as an idiom however，is usually used to commend those officials who serve the people untiringly。
