战国时，燕国艺人高渐离，
会演奏叫做“筑”的古乐器。
他击筑技艺非寻常，
因此大大有名气。
高渐离荆轲偶相遇，
二人一见如故成知己，
常聚在燕都酒店开怀饮，
击筑唱歌抒胸臆。
过不久，燕太子请荆轲助他刺秦王，
史书清楚将这故事记。
据说那荆轲离开燕国上路时，
送行的，便是太子和高渐离。
送别送到易水河，
渐离动情把筑击。
乐声凄怆令人悲，
“易水悲歌”传后世。
哪料想，荆轲行刺事未成，
先在秦国被杀死。
秦王动怒发大兵，
攻伐燕国捉太子。
荆轲同党受牵连，
高渐离，改名换姓远逃离。
到一个荒僻山乡做佃工，
主人丝毫也不知。
有一次，主人设宴请宾客，
酒席间，有人助兴把筑击。
高渐离听了筑乐耐不住，
对那人击筑技巧作评议。
真不愧行家里手有见地，
在座的，没有一个不服气。
主人又请他即席作表演，
直奏得喝彩之声时时起。
谁料到，这一演奏了不得，
竟有人，认出他就是高渐离！
渐离丝毫不惧怕，
开箱子，拿出了
自己珍藏的好乐器。
同时换上旧时装，
不顾一切献筑技。
主人宾客惊又喜，
从此不以佣工视，
待以客礼照顾周，
无人出卖去告密。
渐离击筑成佳话
“不觉技痒”作成语，
常比喻，身怀高超技艺者，
逢机会，总会跃跃作尝试。
Itching to Have a Go
During the period of the Warring States（475—221B。C。），there was a man named Gao Jianli in the State of Yan，who was quite good at playing the ancient musical instrument zhu。And because of his amazing skill，he was then very well-known。
One day，he made friends with a man named Jing Ke，and they became sworn friends forever。They drank in the city's restaurant，and played zhu to express their hearts。Before long，the prince of the State of Yan asked Jing Ke to assassinate the Emperor of Qin。（You probably know the story in Chinese history。）It was said that the men who sent Jing Ke off were none other than the prince and Gao Jianli。They saw Jing Ke off at the Yishui River，where Jianli played zhu emotionally。So emotional and so sad was the music，that“Sad Songs by the Side of the Yishui River”was passed down for generations。
Unfortunately，Jing Ke failed to assassinate the Emperor of Qin and was killed in Qin。The Emperor of Qin got so furious that he attacked the State of Yan and tried to capture the prince。Jing Ke's followers were in grave trouble。Gao changed his name，and ran to a faraway village to work as a tenant peasant，whose landlord knew nothing about it。
One day，the landlord prepared a feast for his guests。During the feast，the instrument zhu was played to entertain the guests。On hearing the beautiful music of the zhu，he couldn't help making comments on the striker's skill。His critical comments were so professional that everyone present was impressed。The host then asked him to give a performance，which won him great applause。But alas，his real identity was then laid bare。While he conscientiously played the zhu，Gao Jianli was not afraid at all。Whereupon he opened his trunk，and took out his dear instrument that was hidden until now。He dressed in his old-fashioned costume，and fearlessly started to play。
The host and guests were surprised and overjoyed，and no longer treated him as a servant，but as an honorable guest instead。No one wanted to turn traitor against him，only to keep a delightful secret。
“Itching to have a go”as an idiom，is usually used to refer to those who have good skills and are always longing to give a show。
