Wait by the Stump for More Hares to Come
Once upon a time, there was a farmer who went to weed in the field。In the middle of the field stood a big tree。Suddenly a hare came running over, and dashed itself against the stump of the tree, and the hare was dead in no time。The farmer was pleased when he saw it,and threw down his hoe, picked up the hare, and ran home to roast the hare for his dinner。
The hare was meaty and delicious。The next day he ate up the rest of the hare and went to the field again。From then on he no longer liked to till the land, but just hid himself beside the tree stump and waited for more hares to bump against it。The weed then outgrew the crops and the crops became pale, but he saw no sign of hares ever after。
So we see this farmer was very ridiculous, because he was so single-minded。He nursed the idea of seeking leisure and hating labour, and every one of us call him lazybones。So this idiom“Wait by the Stump for More Hares to Come”tells us you shall reap what you have sowed。If you don't take pains to do something, you'll be just like that sluggard。
