余既有《异典》、《盛事》二述矣。异典者，遘之自人主者也；盛事者，遘之自天者也。盛事之遘，无非美已；异典之遘，美居十九，疵亦居一。已，乃复有遘之自天而不可言盛，遘之自人而不可言典。或人与事之巧相符者，或绝相悖者，为其稍奇而不忍遗之，别录成卷，以备虞初春明之一采，故不敢称稗史也。
