这四节经文是耶稣讲道时说的。人在年少时，一定要为自己的人生打好基础，其中道德基础尤为重要，这是做人的根本和中心，只有把人做好，才能把事做好。意大利诗人但丁有句名言：“一个知识不全的人可以用道德去弥补，而一个道德不全的人却难以用知识去弥补。” 人的一生如果基础不牢，就像墙头上的芦苇随风飘摇，没有自己的主见，只有附庸于某人或某组织，一生跟着别人跑龙套。另外，自己没有牢固的人生基础，所取得的成就也只能是昙花一现，很难巩固，很快就会像建在沙丘上的房子一样崩塌。
